Land   The land around the home is beautifully blanketed by a luscious mix of deciduous trees and pines. Evenings are thoroughly enjoyed year-round grilling on one of the four decks, relaxing in the hot tub with a cocktail, or out by the stone firepit roasting marshmallows. On drab afternoons, curl up with a favorite book and listen to the rain on the cozy enclosed porch conveniently located off of the living room. The terra offers plenty of parking for any sort of large gathering. Thoughtfully planned,  the main deck space duels as a carport for covered parking. Surroundings    Sullivan County is known for its bounty of quaint lakes, mighty reservoirs, and quick access to the Delaware River for white water rafting, canoeing, and fly fishing. Less than 5 minutes away to essentials and morning coffee at Milk Crate in Woodridge. Only 10 minutes away is the boutique town of Mountaindale where weekends are spent eating the most delicious, naturally fermented pizza (the Duck Hunt is a big fav!) and dancing the night away at fab disco parties at The Dale, rejuvenating Saturday morning at yoga class at Mountaindale Yoga + Wellness, and back at it again at the backyard creek-bar for coffee and drinks at High Voltage. You can pick up essentials for a charcuterie party at general store and wine shop, Forage + Gather on your way out! In the opposite direction, kayaking on the Bashakill is a local hidden gem, known for its winding marshlands and abundant wildlife. After, get refreshed with superb wine and tacos across the street from the launch point at Bashakill Winery. Locals and visitors alike enjoy the area's great food and outdoor activities such as finding secret swimming holes, waterfall chasing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, birding, quadding, swimming, boating, sailing, horseback riding, and biking. In the winter months, Zematt Lodge is only 15 minutes from Holiday Mountain for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing – Hunter and Belleyare Mountains offer additional slopes and are only an hour away. Nearby downtowns include Ellenville (@destination_ellenville, Aroma Thyme Bistro, Shadowland Theater, Shawangunk Country Club, Minnewaska State Park, Neversink Reservoir, Top Shelf Jewelry + vintage, Grahamsville Little World's Fair), Bethel (Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - the original location of the Woodstock Festival!, Java Love Coffee, Catskill Distilling), Liberty (Walnut Mountain Park, the very Wes Anderson-equse Town & Country Antiques, New Muson Diner, Sweet Basil Thai, Yiasou Cafe), Wurtsboro (Canal Towne Emporium, Crystal Connection, O&W Railtrail), and Monticello (YO1 Health Resort, Worlds Resort Casino, Monticello Raceway, Kartrite Indoor Waterpark) – all of which are super accessible and provide a number of restaurants for just about any cuisine you're craving, nightlife, individual farmers markets, the largest crystal you've ever seen, and classic Upstate NY diners. (One was even featured in a Seinfeld episode!) Additional coveted local staples include Forage Pizza, Forestburg General, and of course, beloved Stewarts.

 

Getting There     Zematt Lodge is conveniently located less than 10 minutes off of the highway (Route 17 which brings you to Western NY) and only 1 hour and 25 minutes to the George Washington Bridge. Tourism bus lines are available in nearby Monticello roughly 20 minutes away as well as taxi services. Pick up carless friends coming out of New York or New Jersey for the long weekend via the Metro-North Railroad at the Middletown train station roughly 35 minutes away.
